DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBLEM

The “TRIANGLE” represents growth and prosperity.  Its apex pointing upwards signifies constant development towards attaining a higher state of academic excellence.

The base of the triangle is dedicated to “Service” which should be the primary motive of any human being entering into the field of medicine.  It reiterated their total commitment with body, mind and soul.

The two sides of the triangle represent “Knowledge” and “Discipline” respectively, these two being the essential factors, help in serving the society.  They urge the young minds in to continue in their quest for knowledge while still adhering to strict discipline.  No doubt, these basics our young wards will be initiated on to the path of success.

Within the inner triangle is the SUN – the prime sustainer of all the life on earth.  The Sun or SAVEETHA with its sixteen rays, alternatively shaded and unshaded denote the teeth of the upper and lower jaws.

The “VEL” symbolizing wisdom and sharpness along with the “SERPENT” around it, symbolizes the staff of Aesculapius, the emblem of the medical profession all around the world.

The 1988 indicates the year of inception of Saveeta Dental College & Hospital.

History of the College

On November 18th, 1988 a star was born in the sky of Dental Education; That’s the day our college came into existence.

The birth of this institution stems from the undaunted vision and efforts of our Founder and Correspondent Dr.N. Veeraiyan, President of Saveeta Medical & Education Trust.  The legendary man had it in his mind’s eye, the vision to build a model Dental College for the betterment of Dental Education in our Country.

From November 18th 1988, the day of germination, our college had grown, branched out, bloomed and borne fruit in the form of young, vivacious and dynamic doctors.

All the hurdles in the path of development of our college were met successfully as it progressed from strength to strength.

Our Dental Institution under the able guidance of former Dean & Prof. C.K. Dhanasekaran and the dedicated efforts of our teachers was started in a small temporary block about 5000 Sq.ft. and a dental clinic was started simultaneously. 

Then, the Basic Science Block was built in 1989, and simultaneously plans for our massive OP Block were going  full swing.

Then, in 1992-93 our Sophisticated OP departments/ Clinics came into existence, which was followed shortly by the our 1st Batch of Students in October 1993.

The prestigious day in the history of our college dawned in 1995-96 academic year when the post graduate courses were started.

The construction of the other two wings of the main Out Patient Block was started in January 97 to house a sophisticated Centrally Air-Conditioned Library with modern gadgets like computers, information technology with internet facilities and Seminar Hall with state of the art audiovisual equipment.

Learning becomes interesting with the use of VCD and LD projections.  We have also had our share of credits by several award winning performances given by our students in several University Entrance Examinations, and National Conferences, including obtaining the rolling Trophy for overall performance of Best Institution.

Our College proves to be a Unique Institution by establishing 100 bedded General Hospital for the purpose of teaching Medicine and Surgery for our students, we are proud to say ours is an only Dental Institution in the country to have a General Hospital to teach Dental Students.

And today we are proud to say that our college has been given the highest score among all dental colleges in the state by the High Level Committee appointed by Government of Tamil Nadu.  The credit is still mounting as we recall the fact that university of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh has selected our college as a model Dental Institution in the Country.  Today, with the approval of Royal College of Glassgrow, for training the II year FDS and MFDS our college has gained the prestigious position of being recognized internationally.  The dream has come true with the untiring efforts of the Management, Staff and Students of this college. 

Today, in 1999 as we stand in our Campus, 11 years after the birth of our college with the massive structure of over 2 laks sq.ft. and hear the non-stop rhythrrmic bang and twang of the masons, carpenters and plumbers working in our new block, we are proud of our accomplishments, and we owe our heartfelt gratitude to the creators of this paradise.

Under the able guidance of our Dean.  Dr. M.F.Baig who  has took over the responsibilities from this academic year, we hope to scale new heights in the field of Dental education.

It has been the old saying, “Teach a man to fish instead of treating him with a fish of treating him with a fish for dinner” has been the secret of success of our mission, as we march into the 21st Century.
